The Awana Grand
Prix event is similar to events held by scout groups.
Beginning in February, clubbers buy kits consisting of a wood block, wheels
& axles, decals and instructions. Clubbers and parents work together to create many unique designs and prepare the cars for racing. On the
night of the Grand Prix, the cars are judged for design and
entered in the racing competition. When their numbers are
called, clubbers race their cars down the specially
designed 30-foot track, four at a time. A triple
elimination system is used so each clubber who enters a
car will race at least three times. Trophies are awarded
for speed and design, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
